i'm thinking it's probably a "they have magic together" situation, where they can only use magic when they're holding hands or smth... and here she was working as a conductor
I was pretty curious, so I ask The Almighty God G**gle and read some posts in forms.
The light novel seems to describe their magic in more detail than the manga.
According to the readers, the twins have an intertwined Mana-Cycles. Together, they can easily activate high-level magic. But their individual magic is the complete opposite from the other. Robert has "active magic" and can use offensive magic of different elements, while Marcel has "inactive magic", used for defensive barriers and analyses. Because his Mana is naturally more refined and adaptive, he can touch the "Perle".
Julia is the first one to bring magic close to them, actually kind of "infusing" them with it. That's how their abilities reacted to it and their magic was drawn out.
It's too bad a lot of the light novels are not published in english, because it is easier to translate a manga. I would love to read the original light novels of many adapted manga....
