...I think this one misses the entire theme of this anthology. The anthology is supposed to be about villainesses overturning their doom flags and coming out on top. This one involves the Villainess being completely and utterly crushed by a classic Heroine. Are we supposed to think the Heroine is a "Villainess" just because she sneers a bit at shitty people while in private, despite clearly filling the Heroine archetype in every other way? Because I definitely don't.

In other stories, the Other Woman (aka the Heroine) sneers and says the Villainess deserves what's coming, and manipulated everyone behind the scenes. She acts weak and helpless before the Prince in order to gain his sympathy and affection, all the while sneering at how good she is at being a manipulative man-stealer. This "heroine" is no less smug and manipulative, the twist here is that the "Villainess" is actually an evil, classist B and must be destroyed by manipulating everything behind the scenes. Our "heroine" is no more kind and innocent than any other Heroine -- but she has good reason for it.
