The ex-fiance is clearly the real villain, so why does the Count's Daughter get a worse punishment (married off to an older man) for doing far less (her crimes are hanging out with a school peer, and showing up to a party she was invited to without knowing she wasn't actually invited to it). I understand her facing some social ostracizing because she should have been more careful, but her punishment should have been openly cutting ties with the ex-fiance while making it publicly clear she had no romantic interest in him (should have been obvious, since both of them are heirs and neither would want to marry into the other's family) then lying low for awhile. And what punishment does the ex-fiance get? So far it just seems like it was the end of the engagement and his parents are disappointed in him. His future is probably still secure.

On another topic, I bet the ML turns out to be a secret royal or something.

Unfortunately, as her family are newer nobles compared to his and Rubina’s, Patricia’s has less backing and family connections to rely on for credibility and future prospects, I’ve seen the ‘older fiancé’ and while I can’t discern the actual age gap, it doesn’t seem to be that much. He’s a bit weak in reining in her outbursts. By which I mean, preventing them before they happen, but he recognizes the grace he’s been given by those who outrank them and is able to pull her out of the venue regardless of her tantrum.

as for her further punishment, it’s probably for the best as even when told why Rubina’s is more important than her’s despite technically ranking above, she still insists she’s better & did nothing wrong.

this is also a case of male nobles & heirs vs female ones and which is more valued. Now if diet has any younger siblings or close cousins who won’t be heirs, then it’s likely he’ll be booted to the side as well. We’ll just have to see.
