I just can't side with the FL on this one. The villainess of the story is apparently a 17 y.o girl who never had a steady parental figure or a fair shot at life, and was seduced by a much older scumbag who got her pregnant. Yeah, I know what the tropes of this genre is and normally I can accept it, but the fact the FL's whole plan is to build up this naive, trusting girl (because that's what she is in the end, a freaking child) just so it'll make tearing her down that much more delicious... you just cannot be serious. Almost everyone except the villainess herself are vile people.

Just want to correct, the mistress was not "seduced", she saw him at a distance and then approached him with the intent of becoming a mistress. Also your defense of the mistress based on age would also apply to FL, as they're roughly the same age (FL is 1 year older).

She was not seduced though. In fact, she approached the guy with impure intentions, contrary to what he thought. I’m not saying the guy is blameless but you also can’t say that the girl is merely a victim as well. She knowingly became a homewrecker. I don’t like using someone’s background as a full proof excuse for their actions because people from completely normal families can also end up messed up in the head

Personally I think having a "villainess" who is actually...a villainess...is refreshing. She's "in the right" and she's doing a lot of "good things" but she's still evil at heart.

I disagree with that. Seduce or not, the girl is willingly become a homewrecker, first chapter she's already wearing her gown without any guilt in FL's own bedchamber, like well yeah you're the pregnant mistress but have a little shame???? Most of rich man mistress is high schooler nowadays, and bad home condition is not a reason to become a bitch.

Nah bro cheating is cheating, and it's bad no matter what's the reason, and the fl got any rights to do whatever she wants because literally she got cheated on, and worse the cheater is pregnant

I agree with this. Most of the blame definitely falls on the cheating fiance, but the key word is most. His partner knew that he was an engaged man and shamelessly stood by him and took advantage of the fl. So yeah this is a case where you face the consequences of your actions.

The only shame is that she can't attack the cheating fiance becuase hes protected due to his high status and the circumstances. If that wasnt the case, if we had more avenues for revenge i doubt it would feel like the MC is one sidedly harming the 'villainess' but would feel more just that she targets a more appropriate target

I'm at chapter 6 and I still have absolutely no idea what the FL's revenge plan is, and the flashforward it starts with doesn't make anything any clearer. So far her plan seems to be

Step 1. Give the mistress and cheater everything they want and more

Step 2. Give the mistress and cheater an absurd amount of support, even the approval of the families involved who are all reasonably pissed

Step 3. ???

Step 4. Revenge!

While I'm fully lost on the revenge, I do rather like the way the social interactions are done in this story, and the way none of the characters feel like cheaply written caricatures (well, the cheater comes to the closest to that). The wedding can't just be called off because its an international matter and is too close, so even though almost everyone is unhappy with the situation, they have to find a way to deal with it. The cheater's actions are based entirely in misogyny and pride, and its brought up that a mistress wouldn't actually be strange for him to take...if not for her being a commoner and his fiance being too high rank to snub (a Duke's daughter). The cheater's family are absolutely pissed at him and instantly hate his pregnant mistress. The mistress is a combination of naive and ambitious, allowing for her to self-justify her actions in a very realistic way. Unlike most of these stories, there was and still is no malicious intention in her, and you can see the occasional moments she realizes the harm she unintentionally caused to FL, and the flashes of guilt she feels. I also like that she has a reverence for the royal family, as commoners would be told that royals rule with a divine mandate, and unlike nobles wouldn't have the opportunity to meet them and learn that they are mere humans. The servants in FL's household all hate the mistress, but still do their damn jobs and don't go rogue to take personal vengeance on the mistress, as servants tend to do in Rofan.

I think the revenge is turning the cheerful commoner girl into a cold looking, etiquette following, boring caricature of a noble girl. And at that point, there are 2 revenges to be had: 1) everyone will see that the Villainess is better at being a noble, 2) the cheating scumbag boy will get an even more boring wife than he was trying to escape from. Basically, Villainess can't beat "Heroine" at Hermione's level, but raising her up to own level will make the defeat easy. And all that while creating goodwill and great reputation for herself and her family name.

Ok so I know what it looks like but having read the web novel I can totally say her revenge plan is actually brilliant. The thing is the story is not giving it away. You really have to read all the way to the end.

All I want is more punishment on the guy's side of things. But I suppose it is going to happen as the story goes on.

Chapter 06

Damn, he doesn't even really love Arti.

He took Arti to bring down Evelyn's reputation, he chose Arti because she's lesser than him, easy, obedient, and innocent. A perfect prize.

Arti being a natural temptress haha, well I guess a clumsy fairytale girl is easy to fall for

Chapter 04

So this is somewhat the villainess point of view for those commoner girl X noble guy.(Although MC is quite valid, they had no fights no nothing from shown, the guy just took a mistress suddenly)

Hahaha, still though Arti is painful to watch...

Chapter 03

Okay... The commoner girl is so much pain to see, she's really innocent... She doesn't even understand much, just love. The guy dragged her into this noble world without anything...

Chapter 08

Honestly that sounds like a really fun and effective educational strategy.

Honestly, this story is trying so hard to sound witty and clever, and it's doing the exact opposite. Boring and simply bad.
