I know it's meant to be comedy but the idea of someone refusing to believe I'm me while also spewing out insults about me would genuinely make me cry from rage lol
Well, since she was never outside the church after getting the title, nobody outside the city knows her face.
It would be fair to assume that the eskeletical woman in front of him was NOT a noblewoman, much less a villainess

I said it last chapter, but with this amazing line of internal monologue I think it bears repeating. I think the Crown Prince literally does not understand cause and effect.
Indeed, I'm sure all that "evidence and testimony" were bias as fuck and anyone with sense would notice their lies, but the prince and his asskissers, NOPE! Just PROOF that the "Upstart commoner was arrogant and abusing her position!" Reminds me of the Case of Gideon that resulted in the Miranda Right where he was first condemned on the testimony of one witness to the crime he was suspect of.......who later turned out to be the LOOKOUT for the ACTUAL Suspects! The Prosecution WOULD have found this out if he hadn't been so FULL of himself that the case was a slam dunk with that witness that he didn't have to do anything more! Must have been SWEET when in Gideon's re-trial this got exposed, I'm assuming they looked like FOOLS once all the information THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD ON THE "WITNESS" came out during the cross-examination!
I love her adopted parents! They're making SURE those who harmed Michelle would NOT get away with it! He's going to look like a fool once those who WEREN'T ungrateful for Michelle aid give COUNTER-Testimonies that are FAR more creditable then the OBVIOUSLY fake ones, and once as this chapter showed he discovers "the donations" shit was arranged WITHOUT Michelle's knowledge or blessing, most likely with STEPHANIE'S encouragement! He's going to look like that scene in old loony tune cartoons when the character REALIZED they were a sucker as they stared at the audience in realization horror as they took the IMAGE of a "Sucker Lollypop" This will assure his reputation is in the MUD because "he said he had all that evidence, but DID HE do his job CONFIRMING Saint Michelle WAS a wicked Saint, or did he do a BIAS job to put Saint Stephanie into a position she OBVIOUSLY didn't deserve!"
As you said with Cause and Effect! I think you can hold that more on Stephanie as well! She never bothered to confirm if what she was doing was a good idea, she just ARROGANTLY believed because of her "pedigree" that she was more deserving, and the boycott she likely arranged only WEAKENED the Capital Saintesses and herself, while they send away THE ONLY PERSON DOING THEIR JOBS! I will LOVE to see the other Saints WHINING about all their lost PRIVILAGES, breaktime and sleep their missing because Michelle is gone and with her "the cover that showed thy WEREN'T doing their FUCKING jobs!" At least you can take pleasure in that scene with all of them putting energy non stop that I think I can say, do to their neglect and Michelle growing strength making the barrier now demand the amount of power she was giving off 24/7! Them all combined is tossing a Bucket of Water into a CRATER THE SIZE OF A 5 MILE WIDE BLOCK.....PER DAY! I mean as the man said, they can't do ANY Healing because all the energy was going to the Barrier! Pathetic that Stephanie DARED to believe she was ANYWHERE near Michelle's power level! But the Prince is real scum, if he DID his job and NOT acted in bias, he might have REALIZED the flaw with the SAINTESS being lazy and not doing their JOBS and fixed the issue before it got that big, but he was Arrogant and full of himself, so all he showed was "just how blind a bat he really is!"

About Jeremy:
- Jeremy is not Christophe's son but his halfbrother from a liason between his father and a prostitute. They investigate thoroughly and he is really the son of the late marquis
- His birth mother brought Jeremy as a toddler to Christophe and later tried to blackmail another nobleman. She was stabbed to death in the streets
- Jeremy is registered as his son, because the burocracy makes it almost impossible to register a child when the father is dead
Private Life:
- Christophe tells Michelle that he loves her at a date, but she is still reluctant because of both their pasts- he showers Michelle with so much affection, that she can't withstand his charme and he burst out in tears when she told him she loved him too
- even after they started sleeping in the same room, the relationship stagnates for some time, until Jeremy decides to give them a push with the words: "I want a little brother or sister!"
- two years after the forced wedding they have another son called Valère
- Jeremy stays the first born son in the family and the next heir
The Kingdom:
- Michelle's parents and Christophe keep investigating the capital, even going so far as to hire spies
- They let multiple flyers with the truth fly trough the capital
- After two years the King tries again to get Michelle back, even sending Alphonse to her to apolgize and to confirm the pregnancy ("My beloved wife is pregnant right now, so she can't travel so far - but even if he wouldn't be pregnant, I would not send her to the capital")
- after a harsh scolding from Christophe Alphonse throws himself into work for the first time
- but he can't stop the downfall anymore (that part is actually a bit sad, because he really tried to change and he still made some important reformations in the capital)
- After a meeting of the leading noble houses, the King's capable brother takes over the throne until his teenage son has finished the King's training
- Michelle's brother is the new King's close aide and Christophe reforms the knight's training
- Alphonse gets reduced to a commoner and works in a little village in the outskirts, where he had been slowly accepted
- at the end of the story he works at a farm and cultivates Michelle's medical herbs and is not completely unhappy to have lost the burden of being a royal

Stephanie lost her noble status and got kicked out. The corrupt clergys were arrested and the other saints have a strict work schedule now with praying multiple times a day, keeping up the barrier and healing the people without getting money.There were also a few saints before who took their responsibility serious and one of them is now the head saint.

I also just don’t get why they would do this? It’s not like it’s going to drive a wedge between her and the family?? And they’re bound to get caught eventually… idk just doesn’t feel like a good plot point/arc imo
Jealousy maybe. I thought at first it was a spy for shitty saintess out to fuck her over but now I think perhaps one of the female staff wanted the role of the kids mommy. If so the pen which was effectively her wedding ring and painting would be especially offensive to them.

So that's how it goes with the Light Powers! Basically because she was left to do the job of likely 50 or 100 Saints, she became worthy THRICE that amount power wise! Of course Stephanie likely ARROGANTLY believed when she convinced the other Saints to neglect their duties and boycott that with FMC gone, it should be EASY to do her job! And like the Crown Prince (who they were MADE for each other in how arrogant and delusional they both are) learned the hard way that the Barrier was now fit for someone of "Michelle's Power Level" which she and the remaining Saints in the Capital! I wonder how the Prince will feel when he discovers Step fibbed to him and the reason Michelle was so DRAINED was because the other Saints negelected to do their job and because he was a fool not to see the problem due to his own arrogance and blindness, the incident that happened could be said to be HIS FAULT! Not Stephane! She only got away with this bad behavior because he and the rest LET HER AND THE OTHER SAINTS do so! And now that Michelle is gone, it's only a matter of time before the people put two and two together and realize what the morons in power DID to start causing problems! I especially will love how Step will be driven CRAZY by all the "orders" from Rich Nobles and Merchants she and the others now have to do without rest that I hope that and the Barrier they have to fill that do to their sloth, will take ALOT out of them and that lot will be compared to "dropping a tiny drop into a FUCKING RIVER SIZED CRATER" I can see them losing all their privileges and worked to the bone to make up for Michelle, cursing her before cursing Stephanie because she "promised" once Michelle was removed, it would still be EASY STREET and all following her did was make it WORSE for them, KARMA for their own bad behavior!
