Until I Bear the Prophesied Child: Mio's Marriage~Scarred Bride Gaiden
"Mio is the one who will give birth to the hero the Kyogoku family has long desired. Therefore, whoever marries Mio will become the next head of the family." Mio, the daughter of the Kyogoku family, suffered a serious injury from bullying in her childhood and left her village. Five years later, when the beautifully grown Mio returns to her village, it is prophesied at the family meeting that she will give birth to a future "hero." At that moment, the young master of the main family, who had bullied Mio in the past, begins to force her into marriage. To escape marriage with the man she despises, the girl clings to a "loveless marriage" and "pregnancy" with her first love.

I know its frustrating and irritating to watch someone be submissive like tht, but imagine her situation, when she thought she was finally going to be free, shes again at the mercy of a big organization, tht abused her for years, almost killed her, and even tried to r*pe her. She may be powerful, but not on offensive/defensive magic. + she thinks the ml, the only person tht was her friend and also her first love, knows what they put her through but doesn’t give a damn, thts utterly heartbreaking, i think the story wants to portray her as a broken character thts just trying to keep her mind and heart pieces together.
No one treats FL well here... Her self esteem is below even hell
When you grow up as if being treated as sh!t is the norm(even if you havent done anything bad) you start thinking you are the problem and start hating yourself. I wasnt treated as sh!t, but unfairly, and it took me years to realize i wasnt the wrong one, still now even if i know am not wrong is hard to stop hating myself
The author seems to like that kind of storylines...
Plot: Disney Princess Syndrome
Aaaah it's killing me that she doesn’t have character development after that horrible event that happened to her and went f it all
i hope she grows as a character
Especially because in the main story it's never explained why Reiji is called a "prophesied child".
A little spoiler from the main story:
Mio's son Reiji is later an Ayakashi hunter (he inherited both his parent's magic), leader of the 12th unit and a good friend of the original's ML Yako. In this prequel you would never expect that all brothers later work together in harmony for the clan. At the current point of the main storyline, Daimon works as co-commander with Reiji in the 12th unit, Kirito leads the clan's affairs at the main residence and Hyoma is the new Chief of the Bureau of Onmyo. All three are completely smitten with Reiji after his birth and spoil him endlessly. And that leads him despite being one of the few heroes to be lazy and addicted to gambling and alcohol. Reiji is called "the one most unfit to be married" in the Onmyo-Bureau...
