One day, by royal decree, she’s forced into a political marriage with Lucien, the next head of a rival ducal house.Naturally, she expects cold treatment at her new home as well—but instead of letting it get to her, she remains cheerful and composed. Lucien, however, finds himself unexpectedly drawn to her warmth…She only asked not to be loved—but it’s his heart that starts to melt first.A royal contract, a cold start, and the slow rise of a deeply affectionate marriage. The queen feels like an idiot who thinks she's a genius. This entire plan of hers makes no sense, and would almost certainly just result in the forced bride being physically abused and eventually murdered. And coming to ask her for her opinion? If things are bad, she'd still say her new husband is kind because there would be consequences for her if she said anything else.
