Countess Seraphina lost her parents at a young age and has been fulfilling the role of her estate’s lord in place of her younger brother. At one grand ball, she saves the life of Duke Maynard. Their encounter leads to a contract marriage. But the duke immediately reveals: “I already have someone I love.”This sets off a romance of a realistic noblewoman and a handsome, troubled duke—“I didn’t expect to be so deeply loved by the man who said he loved someone else.”

Actually a really good misunderstanding marriage story. Both of them are able to communicate properly, the ML told her he had someone else but isn't being neglectful to her in the slightest, they've both been pretty open about their feelings and what they want from this relationship, and this could potentially be one of the more lighthearted misunderstanding romances.
IKRR no selfish charachter, they're both kind and respectful, just i think we gonna cry a lot when she's sick later
I like the story, but I think the FL is really selfish for wanting to have a child just to die and leave it alone już like that, without mom
So as far as I can tell his criteria for the "Lace Angel" is basically "must not have matured in the last 10 years". Dude even knows that right after the time he met the "Lace Angel" FL lost her parents and had to mature rapidly in order to safeguard her brother and her territory, but he's so confident the 8 year old he met would never change from life experiences and just growing up, that he won't, I don't know...ask her?
And genuinely it wouldn't be strange at all for FL to mention when they were kids, just as a conversation starter. "Geez, I didn't think our reunion would be like this."
Like the story but ML forgets that he basically told FL that he won't love her bc he already has someone else and gets INCREDIBLY butthurt when she doesn't outright say she loves him, when he's done NOTHING to express his own feelings.
Entitled hypocrite.
Has this man not considered that the "Lace Angel" would almost certainly be a married woman by this point (as it was stated FL is far past marriageable age), that is unless she had some very specific and extreme circumstances like...his new wife?
This is gross and stupid.
Really love both ML and FL. And apparently it's really rare to see an ML who actually take responsibilities on his feelings. Instead of being adamant of loving his first love, he actually learn to fall for FL because being indecisive is unfair to his first love. Such a gem. I just hope against hope that a tragedy tag will not be added.
"He's surely forgotten our meeting twelve years ago, and I have no intention of telling him. Beautiful memories are best left as just that -- memories."
Literally why not? Some poetic sentence about leaving memories as memories isn't an answer, that's just hiding how its really fucking weird to intentionally hide that you've met before. Who would actually do that?
Whoa, shit get from 0 to 100 really fast...
I did not expect FL to be suicidal, and suicide by childbirth is a real messed up thing to do to the child.
The fmc is the girl he is talking about it's going to a long road ahead
He really is a blockhead huh. Good on the Queen for stepping in.
So melodramatic lol
Lady that's... kinda fucked up. She wants to have a child with Maynard, knowing that she'll die from it, leaving him to be a solo parent, all without telling him?!?
Is he stupid? Just asking
The descriptions about how pale, slender, and fragile a girl is to say she's attractive have always felt a little weird to me. But this one:
> Limbs so slender they looked like they might snap, skin so pale it was almost translucent
The mental image this conveys to me is not a pretty girl, its a lich.
