Genuinely why was the ex-wife allowed inside? Everyone knows that the Count hates her, and she abandoned her parental rights to her daughter. She should have been turned away at the gates.

Not only that, but two guards couldn't make her stay in the reception room AND were not able to take a screaming woman out of the house as soon as possible. AND the nanny let Lydia out of her room. Couldn't they just lock the door at the reception room or the child's room? Pure incompetence!

Cause the author wanted to use it as a plot device for FMC and ML's confession. Personally I was screaming for the guards to gag that ex-wife.

obviously. But I don't like it if it's completely illogical. The simplest way would have been to pick up the kid and return to the room until the guards kick her out.
The whole 'arc' about the birth mother is disappointing. I had hoped she had a bit more brains to do something more cunning. Like lead her outside and kidnap her. Or hire some thugs to take her. So boring.....
