Oh god, I know EXACTLY what manhua you mean. The ending was not a surprise, but it was devastating (to me, at least)
It think it was Manhwa and not manhua? Based on Korean novel. If we talk about the same one. But it was lovecraftian so our version of happy life and happy ending would be different than monster's. Overall it was well written and honest about what kinda story it would be. I don't care much about horror, but I do like when something is written well even if it's not fully my thing.
The premise of the fog head duke is cool and interesting but the antagonists are so one-dimensional and boring.
It might be rude to say but if we can trust the painting... Duke's original face is uglier than puff of smoke.
Anyway... This is interesting, but last time I read a story like this it was lovecraftian romance horror, so it's hard to forget that this isn't horror.
