The entire story is built around FL not realizing the engagement she received was from the man she admired, and then for some reason that man (who has been in love with her for years) just makes things even worse. Instead of just telling her she's his fiancee, he starts sending her letters under a nickname to fully convince her that he and her fiance are two different people, and she should cheat on her fiance with him.
If I had a nickel for every time a read a story on this site about ML trying to convince FL to cheat on himself with himself I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.
The story starts with a very comedic tone, and the above premise works because it's a comedy of errors derived from an absurd situation. Unfortunately the story eventually tries to slide into a dramatic tone (with comedic notes), which just makes the absurd scenario they now want you to take seriously incredibly frustrating.
Actually you'd probably have three nickels now.
Edit: Wiat, no, 4. Four nickels. This, the one where the ML is named Snow or something and he's using magic o change his hair, the dragon emperor one, and then there's one more about a woman marrying a duke and becoming a secretary. Except for that one technically she's the alter ego and he's trying to convince the alter ego her to have an affair with him.
Huh, that's look like a lot of hassle to read tq for writing the review 😶🌫️
"I'm weaker than men, but..." she says as she goes to swing around a giant mallet in a manner that leaves men in awe, something that would take incredible levels of both strength and stamina.
I think she should reconsider that statement. 🤔
Seriously just fucking tell her what the actual situation is. Why are you trying to convince her to have an "affair" with you? Is this a kink thing?
Is there even a reason to hide her gender at this point? She's being hired for the skills she displayed, but actually being a woman would actually be a plus in this situation.
First of all, if ML immediately knew who FL attended the festival with....why didn't he just ask her from the start? Just send her a letter "Countess, recently at a festival I danced with a young lady in your care. I would be most interested in speaking with her again. Could you tell me the name of her family?"
Second, FL made no mention of an engagement last chapter when she was given word of this new marriage arrangement, which has me thinking that she didn't know about it. Once again her parents are just generally kind of sucky.
So the mom 100% confirmed that she doesn't want to spend any time with her daughter, and only cares about her son, right? Rather than spending time with her daughter she asked her friend to spend time with her daughter as a parental figure.
And how did the dad not explain who the engagement was to in the time it took for FL to call over her maternal figure (not her mom) and chat with her? The way the conversation ended, she very clearly was just accepting anything and he never thought to follow up? Both her parents suck in a much less vicious way than normal Rofan parents...which honestly makes it feel so much more real.
Is no one going to question why guys were busting into a theater with swords?
So obviously the manager is the person in the rumor.
I think its wild that she had the thought process "I'm not close enough to my parents to talk to them. Maybe I'll talk to my mom's friend instead." If it was just "talking to my parents about their love lives would be incredibly awkward" would be more reasonable than "I'm not close with my parents".
ML's parents are adorable.
"Brother" needs to tell ML that he has to just be fucking honest with FL already.
I love that fact that it’s not one sided and they both fell in love at first sight.
Okay now bro got a long way to go
