The synopsis makes me not to want to read this. If their dynamic was mother and son before......... Just nope.

So, I'll admit, the dynamic is weird in the description but feels like it's actually done fairly well in the story. Spoilers below, but....

ML was hit with a spell where he temporarily regressed to being a child. While this happened, FL took him in and adopted him, during this time ML physically and mentally regressed to being a child but around a year or two later (while separated from FL) he returns to his adult body with his adult mentality and memories. But those memories don't fully include the ones he had when he was with FL. I think the implication is that he vaguely remembers them and cherishes her for what she did for a stranger, and still has the deep feelings he held for her while he was a child.

I also wonder, and kind of hope, we get to see how FL feels about it, because right now she's treating ML's advances as his childish form still lingering in his mind and trying to appease him while also keeping an appropriate distance from him. She's a little naive about it, but still she's making a bare minimum attempt. But, when I take a step back and think about the implications, the boy she briefly knew is technically dead. ML's actual memories of his childhood seem to have buried or at least mostly obscured the ones he had with FL, so anything she taught him or talked to him about is gone. Meanwhile FL is still treating him like he's carrying pieces of that person with him when the only thing he seems to be carrying are the feelings he had for her, not the full memories.

The ML didn't have a fundamental change in personality based on his experiences under her care, he didn't rewrite his morals or see the monarchy or government in a new light. At most he's just realized that he doesn't like being a puppet soldier doing the kingdoms bidding, and he likes this girl who's also been used and neglected by the kingdom.

I don’t really like this. The way Luto acts makes me feel icky.
