Reifel has spent years working as an apothecary, producing the medicines that helped support her family and her fiancé's pharmacy. But her fiancé betrays her by choosing her younger sister, and Reifel is expelled from her own home. Instead of begging to return, she decides to abandon her family and build a new life. She settles in a remote village and opens her own pharmacy. There, she meets Tia, an aspiring apothecary, and Al, a mysterious young man known for his extraordinary ability to distinguish good medicine from bad simply by its smell. As Reifel starts discovering her own hidden abilities, her peaceful second life becomes much more exciting. She eventually becomes involved with a major apothecary organization and begins uncovering problems connected to her former fiancé's pharmacy.
