This feels so contrived. This guy and his entire family don't understand how engagements work and think the request goes through if the other party just doesn't respond, FL's attempt to hide her fiance's identity feels like "you wouldn't know him he lives in Canada", and then it turns out FL and ML are rather well known for openly dating just without glasses on so no one ever figured it out.
