So the plan for keeping her safe was to engage her to a burgeoning psychopath? I know it worked out in the end, but that had way too much chance of going horrificly wrong.
Also there was literally no reason given for them keeping the engagement secret. Publicizing it would have been more protection than not, and wouldn't have given anything away about her magic.
More like protection against political rivals since both their families are powerful. Thats probably just why
And perhaps from possible engagement offers from other countries that may be more or at least at par with them in power
This feels so contrived. This guy and his entire family don't understand how engagements work and think the request goes through if the other party just doesn't respond, FL's attempt to hide her fiance's identity feels like "you wouldn't know him he lives in Canada", and then it turns out FL and ML are rather well known for openly dating just without glasses on so no one ever figured it out.
