After dying, a young woman is reincarnated as Meltya, the villainess of an otome game. According to the original story, Meltya mercilessly abuses her adopted stepbrother, Roy, who eventually takes revenge by killing her. However, she realizes the truth is more complicated: if she leaves the household, Roy will become the target of horrific abuse and may not survive. Because Roy was her favorite character in her previous life, Meltya chooses to endure everyone's hatred by pretending to be the villain while secretly protecting him from those around him. Her sacrifices slowly change Roy's perception of her. As he grows older and learns the truth behind her actions, his gratitude develops into deep affection, setting the stage for a heartfelt fantasy romance about changing fate, protecting loved ones, and finding happiness together.

Wow this is a messed up story. It’s unexpectedly dark(immorality, pedophilia, different kinds of abuse). There’s a lot of piece of shit characters that disgusts me. I couldn’t bring myself to continue beyond ch 2. It doesn’t make sense at all for them to make her the duchess. She’s a little commoner girl from the slums. Even she agrees. But why does she have to continue with the villainess act towards ml? She can just be blatantly nice and supportive of him. After all she has no right and reason to be villainous. Stupid plot. Nasty characters.

They make her the "duchess" because she actually has no power and they need a puppet figure head for legal reasons. She has to act like the villainess because she has no power and is just a puppet figurehead and everyone else wants to flat out kill the ML. It was pretty obvious.

I read all that from the manga, you don’t have to repeat it lol it’s absolute bullshit logic.

I'm a little confused... if she was 14 (correct me if I'm wrong) when she got stabbed, shouldn't she be 20 both mentally and physically? I don't understand how a coma would magically stop her from growing into an adult..
