ML sucks here. Inferiority complex. He got mad upset when he lost to FL, and worked hard and avoided her so that he could outperform her.
He loves(?) her, but he feels insecure. He doesn't outright blame her or take out his unnecessary anger out on her, thank god. Instead neglects her, and FL is made to feel like she needs to diminish herself to accommodate him.
ML can feel undeserving, properly talk to her that he feels that way, but he was more comfortable with her dimming her light.
FL rightfully thinks he doesn't like her. Tbh she should leave for herself.
girlie's worst flaw is that she doesn't have faith in the fiance she grew up with in childhood 😂 but honestly her logic given the limited info everyone's withholding from her is sound. 100% of the blame falls on her fiance for not confronting her misguided thoughts sooner and letting them spiral to the point where she thinks he hates her tbh

I don't really agree with "this isn't a problem we should solve for them", because that feels like someone claiming to be a friend absolving themselves of actually helping their friends. But I basically see two equally reasonable things they could do.
- Throw up your hands and say "Gil completely fucked this one, so he gets to reap what he's sowed. What a dipshit." Basically what the Lady Friend is doing, though I would say this is completely giving up the friendship with Gil.
- Smack Gil in the head, call him a fucking moron, and explain to him how he's spent the last year making his fiancee feel like shit, and if he doesn't completely change his behavior and patch things up with her asap, she's going to dump his ass and become a knight. This is the real friend thing to do imo.
I'll be 100% honest, he deserves to lose her. Some people will say it's FL's fault for being an airhead ans misunderstanding but he left her a whole stadium to misunderstand from.

He ignored her, acted like she was a bother while acting like he loved her to everyone but her. They were close but then he suddenly kept his distance after losing to her once. She gave up what she studied for years just to (possibly) cater to his taste but that single year left her with only a certainty of a broken relationship cause he never thought it would be a good idea to show to her that he loves her. She just left her imagination run because she loves him but a whole year left her heart bruised. I really dislike those kinds of situations cause after they want us to believe that that whole year was just her exaggerating and overthinking when she had every right to do that (which is why Patricia sided with her). He deserves to regret way more than him screaming how he won't break the engagement and storming off like a rebellious teenager.
